Not just a Movie review!!!!!

Does a movie ever inspire you to write????

Does a movie ever stay for more than a day in your head like that alarm with only snooze button on it???

Does it make you compare yourself, your friends to the characters in the movie????

Do the incidents shown in the movie feel like Déjà vu???

Biggest of all: Do all these things happen for the same movie????

Well for me, it did. I watched ZNMD yesterday i.e. 16th July 2011, with the people I remember to have watched movies since ever. Puneet Taneja and Meenal Johari.

(I mean, 2 years is the maximum my LONG term memory goes these days...)

So, let’s take it from the start…Why am I so hit or struck by the movie???

One and only reason: How can a woman (Zoya Akhtar, in this case) understand, depict and portray Men’s psyche so clearly. All through the movie, this feeling just kept on growing that we (the men folk) do react in the exact fashion to situations similar in our lives.

Well, to satisfy the egoists, let me not generalize my statements (not that the generalizing would make it controversial enough to eclipse the last Harry Potter book).

Let me tell you what I saw of me and my friends in the movie.

I do ask this quintessential question (which is the best way of me, showing concern) to friends “Dude, tu khush to hai na?”;

That I do consider work as more important (no matter what the comparison is), until unless shaken up;

That I do act tough in front of friends, hiding and biting my emotions, whereas beyond that thin layer of ice is a guy who does feel emotional, who does feel sad, who is not all about pragmatism;

That I feel no one understands me, NOONE, whereas my life remains an open book with pages written by people close, very close;

That me and my friends do keep things for long, buried in their hearts, (good, bad and ugly), while it’s just that Heartfelt sorry that they expect;

That for me expectations are a burden, and that they strangle, while they are things that make a relationship, a relationship or else we had better be strangers;

That I am okay with being aloof, I like being alone; whereas it’s the TRUTH I run from, the reality that I am Independent, but can’t choose my wedding suit alone;

That we as friends love to brag about our toys (and I strictly mean Gadgets, home, Cars etc.), while all we want is to enjoy them with our loved ones;

That no matter who we think is up the priority list, it’s the friends we confide in the end….

Well, ZNMD by no means is the best movie ever made and I don’t suggest it deserves an Oscar or something, but what it has done for me is that it has just struck the right chord at the right moment. I have always felt that If a movie can come close to the real life, it will get your pulse racing, it will be your instant favorite.

I am happy that one director, albeit a woman was able to come so close to reality that I hardly felt less than Hrithik Roshan ever.

So, for those who have watched the move already, do think about whatever I just wrote, and to those who haven’t, please go and watch. If not anything, you will have FUN.

Adios Amigos!!!!!
